Genesis 1:28

God wants you to be happy. I know this because Genesis 1:28 tells us that God blesses us. In Hebrew the root of the word “bless” and “happy” are the same. Happy speaks of a feeling, and bless speaks of the act of making, or creating the feeling of happiness.

God tells man to be fruitful multiply and to fill the earth. He intends for us to find happiness in righteous relationships with family and friends. How many times have you heard someone say, “My children are a blessing.”? In church we speak of the blessing of fellowship. Broken relationships are not a source of happiness; but broken relationships can be mended.

God spoke of subduing the earth. We can find happiness in taking on a challenge and overcoming it. If you want your children to be happy, keep them challenged. If you want to be happy find a challenge and conquer it.

It is difficult to be happy while feeling helpless or powerless. God tells mankind to rule, master, and have dominion over the earth. If you are in a desperate situation, God wants to bless you by helping you take control of your life.

If you are unhappy, it is not God’s will for your life. Ask him to lead you into relationships, challenges, and decisions that will make you happy. God wants to bless you; he wants to make you happy.
