Genesis 37:1 -11
Our beginning doesn’t predetermine our ending. You can start with nothing and end up with everything. Abraham Lincoln began in a log cabin and ended up in the White House. We tend to think that this idea is a uniquely American idea. It is not. It has been lived out from the beginning of creation. It is a uniquely God idea. God finds an unrighteous man and offers to restore him to the position of God’s Child. That is the big picture, but the same principle works in every aspect of our life.
Joseph did not have the best beginning. Joseph began life as the youngest of eleven brothers. God sent him two dreams telling him that someday he would be a ruler. Because of his father’s favoritism he felt entitled. He believed it was only natural that he should rule. Joseph felt so entitled he did not have sense enough to keep his mouth shut. He had to share his dreams. It was his way of saying to his brothers, look at me, I’m special. I’m better; I’m destined to great things. Before he would ever rule over anyone he would need to learn humility.
Joseph was thrown in the pit. Then he was sold into slavery. He was tested and he spent time in prison. God did not send him the dreams because he was ready to rule. God sent him the dreams to let him know in the hard times that better days were coming. God would bless him in order that he might be a blessing to his entire family.
Our story is not told by where we begun. Our story is not told by where we are at. The glory of our story is told by where we are going. Walking with the Lord means the best is yet to come. With God the end is always better than the beginning. God is blessing his children in order to bless the whole world. The best days are yet to come.
