Genesis 1:1-9

Darkness is not a thing. Darkness is nothing, it is no-thing. Darkness is an absence of light. Darkness is the absence of God.

God is the creator, however before he created, he lit the darkness. His light revealed formless chaos and emptiness. Genesis teaches us that God filled the emptiness with his Spirit, and brought order out of chaos.

The world we live in today has much darkness, and many bad things are happening. Some people are afraid of the dark, they are afraid of living outside the light. They’re afraid of what happens when light is absent. They see the chaos and disorder. They experience the emptiness and the despair. All around them light is going out, and the darkness is spreading. In the darkest hour, Genesis 1 brings hope.

I believe God the creator who in the beginning was light in the darkness, the God who brought order out of chaos, and filled to overflowing the great emptiness, is still creating today. I believe he is creating in the hearts of men. I want him to do the same in me. I ask him to order my chaotic steps, to fill my heart, and to shine his light of love through me into a dark world. I want God to work his creative work in me.
